US gas standards raised to 35 mpg by 2020

As expected, this bill passed. But appears to be a moot point as the market, especially the foreign car market, is set to produce a ton of dramatically more efficient vehicles by the early teens. Factor in Peak Oil by sometime around 2015 and the standards become laughable, while still admirable in relation to today's industry norm.
