In the West, a good writer will rise into the bestseller and gain the respect of people in the way a great music artist or painter will. But in Rwanda, a reluctance of publishing houses and a disinterest in fiction stalls an entire nation from potential talent.
It would be interesting to compare the literary publishing out put of Rwanda with other relatively impoverished nations with a recent turbulent political past like, say, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
