Both U.S. presidential candidates are promising tax cuts to help out American citizens. But such cuts would simply exacerbate the current unprecedented federal deficits and debt. The U.S. has been living on borrowed money for decades, and is one of the lowest taxed countries in the industrialized world. To grow out of these deficits will require increased individual and corporate taxes, not cuts.
