The Energy Department forecasts that in 2009, the price of gasoline will average $2.03 a gallon. While higher than current prices, it is much lower than the average prices of 2008, which were closer to $3.27 a gallon, cresting over $4 a gallon in July. Hopefully this is a sign that the regulators will not have as much control in the future and supply will actually equal demand.
